I wonder why we need the Kindle at all. I’d love to be able to buy and read the Amazon format on my iPhone.
Here’s more about this on my blog: http://www.joeranft.com/2008/07/1-app-id-like-to-see-in-apple-iphone.html
HI Joe,
Thanks for the comments and I really enjoyed your blog post. I was following the guys on Mac Break about the iPhone book reade, and agree, that a iPhone eBook reader would be a great thing. However, I find that the non-backlit aspect of the Kindle is great for my eyes. I travel a lot and usually watch video podcasts on my iPhone aboard planes. The back light really does tier out my eyes. So far I don’t experience this with the Kindle. I am sure that I will comment more as I use the Kindle more. Keep on listening and throw a few tags our way, would love to see your perspective on things.
Michael R.
Now that the iPhone apps are out, you might be interested in Stanza which is an e-book reader… although I take your point about backlight, and I guess the Kindle’s battery life is likely to be better than the iPhone too.
Just came across your blog on Google. Interesting post, you bring up a few good things to think about. Good luck with the blog.
