153 – The Crowd’s Gonna Go Where the Crowd’s Gonna Go

Andy and Michael M take you through the Interwebs, ruminating on your tags, setting a Dogearnation.com record for the longest “What’s cool?” section ever.  Going from consoles to kiosks, Andy and Michael talk about how the emerging social networking capabilities are providing the ability to mix the real world and the virtual in ways that were predicted by Neil Stephenson in Snow Crash.  Facebook privacy settings loom large (again!) with some nice visualizations for how the default privacy settings have evolved over the years, and upstarts such as Diaspora are quickly raising seed capital.  Will FB be the next MySpace, or will the new applications and interfaces propel Facebook to even higher heights?  Has Augmented Reality faded?  How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?

After double checking on the record button – The guys go into a listener tag that sets off a rant on when do social networking tools go too far. They then look an innovative application that only runs on the mac – Delicious Library. Matt finally admits that the reason he thinks Mac stink is because he doesn’t have one. Michael then realizes that customer service is all a matter of how you present the bill to the customer. Finally Nortel shows off “Web Alive” and they guys have to talk about it.
